LEASING/RENTAL COMPANY OF THE YEAR
sponsored by Skoda
Winner: Whizzgo WhizzGo is not your usual car rental company. The ‘car club’ concept provides users with a rent-by-the-hour service that is truly committed to reduce C02 emissions.
The company works with councils, town planners and public transport networks and is now present in 10 cities across the UK
To ensure the WhizzGo service is accessible to a maximum of people, users can register online or over the phone for £25 one-off fee and a £125 deposit. The cars are parked in Car Club bays, dotted around the city, where people can pick-up and return them using a Smart card and a PIN number. Bookings are made either online or over the phone with billing sent-out via email and payments collected via direct debit.
All cars meet the car club standards and are less than four years old. Most importantly, Whizzgo ensures its fleet is green. It has around 130 Citroëns with stop start technology, congestion-charge exempt LPGs, and has recently introduced the Toyota Prius as the first pay-by-the-hour hybrid in UK.
For its no hassle, no paper, 24/7 service, Whizzgo scoops the 2007 Leasing/Rental Company of the Year Award for its bold and innovative approach.
Runner-up: Inchcape Fleet Solutions Inchcape Fleet Solutions challenges current client practices and, as a result, introduces savings and efficiencies to their fleet operations. Its ‘Well to Wheel’ initiative includes environmental training for its 20-strong team of account managers.
