INDUSTRY INNOVATION AWARD
Winner: Elektromotive Elektromotive has developed the world's first truly generic electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle recharging network. Whether it is an electric scooter, car or van the Elektrobay presents a stylish design and simple access for the user, and will reduce system monitoring, maintenance and running costs.
It is the vision of Elektromotive to provide the means to recharge electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles whilst utilising real incentives to switch from high carbon fuels. The unit is fitted with an active display that shows the status of the charging post and is programmed to notify the user when their Elektrobay access is about to expire. The Elektrobay can even be programmed to notify the user via text message that their vehicle has finished charging.
Westminster City Council have successfully trialled two Elektrobays in Covent Garden, London and are expanding the network later this year. Elektromotive has been awarded the Industry Innovation Award due to its functional technology that is changing the face of transport.
Runner-up: Lysanda Lysanda has developed the Eco-Log™, an on-board device which gathers performance and emission data from a moving vehicle, via a highly innovative simulation model.
Eco-Log™ is currently in development, but its accuracy has already been externally validated at the Millbrook Proving Ground. Trials using a test vehicle equipped with the latest particulate filter technology demonstrated an accuracy of better than +/- 3% for exhaust pollutants and better than +/- 1% for CO2 and fuel consumption.
Commended: Oxonica Oxonica has successfully developed the Envirox™ fuel additive, a scientifically and commercially proven diesel fuel combustion catalyst which reduces fuel consumption, green house gas emissions (CO2) and other harmful exhaust emissions. |
