DEALERSHIP OF THE YEAR
Winner: Evans Halshaw - Mansfield Since the introduction of the Fuel Economy label scheme in 2005, consumers are more aware of CO2 emission at the point of purchase. The labels, which are similar the energy-efficiency labels displayed on fridges and washing machines also provide an estimated annual running cost and fuel consumption figure, and now on display in most dealerships.
In 1999 Pendragon holdings acquired Evans Halshaw, making it the largest motor dealer group in the UK. The network currently represents over 30 manufacturer brands, including Citroen, which is the GreenFleet Car Manufacturer of the Year 2007. Today, Evans Halshaw represents over 180 volume dealerships spanning all parts of the UK.
In July this year, Citroen encouraged more people to buy cars with CO2 figures of 120g/km or less by pledging to pay the Road Fund licence fee. There are 22 models which fall into this category within the C1, C2, C3 and C4 ranges, including the Citroen C4 1.6 HDi, which, according to AutoExpress tests published in August, has the lowest CO2 figure in the hatchback sector. A fuel efficient automatic diesel has also been added to Citroen’s family-sized C5 saloon and estate range.
In particular, Evans Halshaw Mansfield's high volume sales of the Citroen C1 C2 and C3 ranges, all of which have versions that emit less than 120g/km, have been exceptional in 2006 and 2007. Evans Halshaw Mansfield also offers the C2, C3 and C4 models under the Motability scheme, a national UK charity which helps disabled people and their families to remain mobile. |
